We will leave Quito in the morning and begin our journey southeast. Along the way, you'll enjoy diverse landscapes as we venture into the Amazon region.
We will make a stop at the Papallacta Lagoon, a beautiful body of water surrounded by mountains and lush vegetation. Here, you’ll have the chance to admire the panoramic views and enjoy the natural setting. We’ll have time to relax in the thermal pools formed by medicinal hot springs (not a spa). Although we won’t visit the spa, you can unwind in these natural hot springs, known for their warm waters and revitalizing properties, which are perfect for relaxing before continuing our journey.
We’ll travel for a couple more hours and arrive at the lodge in the Amazon region, where we’ll be welcomed with a lunch prepared with fresh, local, and regional ingredients. This lunch will provide an authentic taste of Amazonian cuisine.
Leisure time: After lunch, you’ll have free time to relax at the lodge, enjoy the facilities, and take in the surrounding natural beauty.
In the evening, we’ll have dinner at the lodge, featuring regional flavors. Later, we’ll go on a short night walk through the jungle, an exciting opportunity to experience the Amazon's nightlife. Finally, you’ll stay at the lodge, where you can rest and prepare for the adventures of the following day.
We start the day with a delicious breakfast and then we will get ready to start the day of activities in the jungle using mainly the boots that the lodge will provide us. We will take the transportation and head to Puerto Ahuano where we will take a boat to navigate to the first point of visit which is the Animal Rescue Center “Amazoonico”. There we will take a tour to see the different animal species such as the anaconda, parrots, macaws, caimans, tapirs, peccaries, spider monkeys, howler monkeys, chichico monkeys, among others.
Then, we will continue to Cayman Island and Lagoon where we will observe a presentation of the Kichwa community about their clothing and the preparation of “Chicha de Yuca” (yucca chicha). We will also learn how to use the blowgun, a local hunting tool. We will continue with a short hike to the Caiman Lagoon where we will have the opportunity to feed some caimans from a safe point and under the supervision of the local guide.
We will advance to the Arajuno River to take the boat and go to another community near the place (5 minutes), there we will enjoy a typical lunch of the local cuisine.
Finally we take the transport and return to the lodge. Dinner and free night for night entertainment and accommodation.
After breakfast, we’ll have time to relax at the lodge, enjoy the pool, or simply read a book in a serene setting. We’ll take this opportunity to soak in the natural beauty around us and unwind from the daily hustle. Next, we’ll have lunch (not included) at the lodge’s restaurant, where we can savor the regional cuisine. Afterwards, we’ll begin our journey to Baños, with the chance to enjoy panoramic views along the way.
On our arriving in Baños we will visit to the Tree House and the Pacha Mama Hands Viewpoint: After lunch, we'll take you to the famous Tree House, an iconic spot in Baños known for its swing at the edge of the cliff, offering stunning views of the valley and surrounding mountains. You'll also have the chance to explore the Hands of God Viewpoint, a unique structure featuring massive stone hands extending out over the void, providing a spectacular perspective of the landscape and an unforgettable experience.
Dinner (Not included) and accommodation.
After a delicious breakfast, we’ll proceed to the waterfall route along the Pastaza River, with its various tributaries such as Agoyán, Río Negro, Río Blanco, and Río Verde. Along this route, you can see several waterfalls, including Manto de la Novia and the famous Pailón del Diablo. We’ll have the chance to descend to 1,300 meters near the waterfall, where there’s a small rocky section similar to a cave that provides an impressive view of this majestic natural creation.
We’ll have time for lunch and then return via the same route, passing over a cable car across the Pastaza River near the “Manto de la Novia” waterfall, which is approximately 200 meters high.
There’s also the option to participate in extreme activities like Canopy over the Pastaza River, with a 25° incline and a length of 1,000 meters above the river.
We’ll visit the Basilica of the Virgin of Baños de Agua Santa, a new Gothic-style building constructed by the Dominicans. The interior decoration deviates from the new Gothic style, featuring various colorful paintings representing the miracles of the Virgin, and the entire construction is made of volcanic stone.
We'll continue to the Ilinizas Reserve located around 4900 msnm. Dinner included and accommodation.
After breakfast, we’ll start the day going down to the lagoon in about 30 minutes and walking up in 1 hour or it is up to tourist walk or we have the option to start with a short but breath-taking hike around the Quilotoa volcano caldera, a volcanic crater renowned for its stunning emerald-green lagoon at the bottom.
