After breakfast we leave Quito at approximately 8:00 and head south of the country through the mountain range and we will see different volcanoes, some of them active like the colossus Cotopaxi and extinct like Pasochoa and Rumiñahui (rocky mountain).
On the side of the road we have the house of Don Julian who lives in the Andes above 3500 meters above sea level where we will appreciate the authentic lifestyle of them with a special animal that shares the space in the house which is the guinea pig. In fact, it is the one that protects them from bad energies according to their beliefs, hence its name. Here we can also see the different plantations of Andean products such as various types of tubers.
After crossing some majestic landscapes we will arrive at the Los Ilinizas ecological reserve. If time permits, we will hike to the lagoon inside the crater descending approximately 400 m or continue with a short but impressive hike around the caldera of the Quilotoa volcano, a volcanic crater famous for its impressive emerald green lagoon at the bottom. During the hike, we will enjoy panoramic views and the natural beauty of this unique geological formation. Time for lunch (not included)
Finally, return to the capital.
